Abstract (en)
The aim of this doctoral dissertation was to develop composites based
on graphite and its derivatives, modified with TiO2, ZrO2, and ZnO
oxides, for application in the sorption removal and photocatalytic
degradation of textile dyes from aqueous solutions. The base graphite
material was synthesized by a modified Hummers-Offeman method
using waste graphite powder, while the metal oxide composites were
prepared by a modified sol-gel method followed by reflux treatment.
The synthesized materials were characterized by SEM, XRD, FTIR,
N₂ adsorption/desorption analysis, and acid-base analysis, confirming
that modification with metal oxides led to enhanced surface
development, changes in pore structure and surface properties, as well
as the formation of functional bonds between the graphite matrix and
the oxide phases. The applicability of the obtained materials was
examined in the processes of sorption and photocatalysis of the
cationic dye Methylene Blue and the anionic dye Reactive Blue 19.
The obtained results confirm that the synthesized graphite-dominant
composites containing metal oxides represent cost-effective,
sustainable, and functional materials with significant potential for
application in the treatment of dye-contaminated wastewater, and
show that the choice of metal oxide dopant determines the selectivity
of the composites toward the type of pollutant.

“Data exchange” service offers individual users metadata transfer in several different formats. Citation formats are offered for transfers in texts as for the transfer into internet pages. Citation formats include permanent links that guarantee access to cited sources. For use are commonly structured metadata schemes : Dublin Core xml and ETUB-MS xml, local adaptation of international ETD-MS scheme intended for use in academic documents.
