System Risks and Safety
Abstract (en)
Musculoskeletal disorders are one of the most common health issues
affecting dentists. The specific nature of tasks and working conditions
in dental practice leads to daily exposure to numerous ergonomic risk
factors, which explains the high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders
among dentists. In addition, human error in dentistry has a significant
impact on patient safety, highlighting the need to identify relevant risk
factors.
Based on this, this doctoral dissertation aims to analyze the key
ergonomic risk factors contributing to the development of
musculoskeletal disorders among dentists in Serbia, as well as their
impact on the reliable and safe performance of work in the context of
analysis and reduction human errors and risk management.
In the first part of the dissertation, a literature review and analysis of
existing studies were conducted to define the ergonomic-analytical
methodological framework. The empirical part of the research included
three studies:
(1) a survey to determine the relationship between work and lifestyle
habits with the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders and to examine
attitudes toward human error;
(2) an assessment of dentists' postural status, respectively objective
assessment parameters of the spinal column, using rasterstereography;
(3) the application of SLIM and SHERPA methods for the analysis and
prediction of human errors.
The data obtained through the survey were processed using descriptive
statistics, correlation analysis, t-tests, regression, and the χ²-test. The
results enabled the identification of key ergonomic risks factors for the
development of musculoskeletal disorders and human errors in dental
practice.

“Data exchange” service offers individual users metadata transfer in several different formats. Citation formats are offered for transfers in texts as for the transfer into internet pages. Citation formats include permanent links that guarantee access to cited sources. For use are commonly structured metadata schemes : Dublin Core xml and ETUB-MS xml, local adaptation of international ETD-MS scheme intended for use in academic documents.
