The History of the Serbs from 1800 to 1918

The subject of the doctoral dissertation is the history of the Kruševac district since its formation in 1834, as part of the administrative changes in the then Principality of Serbia, with a necessary reference to the annexation of the Kruševac region to the Principality of Serbia in 1832– 1833 year and the events that led to it. The chronological limit of the work ends with the ousting of Prince Mihailо Obrenović from power in 1842, when the entire administration in the Principality of Serbia, and therefore also in the Kruševac district, changed. The doctoral dissertation presents an account of the political, cultural, social, religious, economic, educational, demographic and other circumstances in the Kruševac district in the mentioned chronological boundaries, based on unpublished archival material from the State Archives of Serbia, the Historical Archive in Kruševac, published sources and literature. After the annexation of the Kruševac nahija, a new administrative organization was started in the Principality of Serbia, and in 1834, the nahija became districts, and the captaincy became counties. The chronological framework is related to this type of administrative division. The Kruševac district played an important role in the Principality of Serbia, because as a border region it was exposed to constant attacks by the Turks and Arbanas, and at the same time its construction and introduction into the official streams of the Principality of Serbia began, which is shown in the paper. The structure of the work, in addition to the content, preface, introduction, conclusion and list of bibliographic units, also consists of 14 thematic chapters. The paper contains 64 tables and one chart.
