Abstract (en)
Even though the chronotope of Belgrade has been
repeatedly emphasized as an important element of poetics of
Svetlana Velmar-Janković, the review of scientific works and
approaches to her artistic prose, show a lack of study about the
chronotope of Belgrade as the main research topic. Furthermore,
there is a noted absence of a monograph which encompasses the
entire work of artistic prose by Svetlana Velmar-Janković. It is
analyzed selectively and automatically if we consider the choice of
theoretical material and interpreted themes.
In this dissertation, our analysis of the chronotope of
Belgrade in the artistic prose by Svetlana Velmar-Janković tends to
overcome its partial interpretation and contextualization in the
corpus of contemporary literary theories, whose innovative
methods reveal the overlooked (although essential) aspects of the
autor’s poetics.
The theoretical contextualization of prose by Svetlana
Velmar-Janković will be implemented in accordance with the
theory of chronotope by Mikhail Bakhtin, the semiotic theory of
artistic space by Yuri Lotman, poststructuralistic theories of space,
contemporary posthumanistic narratological literary theories,
geographical narratology and the affective theory of space. The
theory of the chronotope (and of the city) will be investigated
through the three crucial perspectives: through its diachronic
relations with the humanities, then in the domains of explicit
theoretical analysis and in the doamin of immanent poetics (spatial
and temporal aspects in literary texts).
