Abstract (en)
The process of aging is associated with changes in all organs and systems of the human body. It is believed that there is a relationsip between a reduced secretion of growth hormone from somatotropic adenohypophyseal cells and loss of muscle mass, i.e. sarcopenia in healthy elderly individuals. Having in mind this relationship, this research was focused on the detection and quantification of changes in human sompatotropic cells of the adenohypo-physis and changes in the muscle fibers of the human psoas muscle in the examinees of different age and gender, using immunohistochemical and morphometric analysis (measure-ment of volume density, area, perimeter, and Feret's diameter) in order to get an insight into their dynamics during aging. The results of the study demonstrated a reduction of average volume density of somatotropic cells and volume density of type II muscle fibers with advan-cing age; different dynamics of volume density values of somatotropic cells in individuals of both sexes; drop of average area, perimeter, and Feret's diameter of the same cells with aging; presence of significant differences of the above astereologic parameters between genders; drop of the average nucleocytoplasmic ratio of somatotropic cells with aging; drop of values of astereologic parameters of type I and II muscle fibers in both genders with aging; correlation of stereologic and astereologic parameters of somatotropic cells and age of the analyzed cases, and that the above parameters in combination represent statistically signi-ficant predictors of the respective stereologic and astereologic parameters of type II muscle fibers during aging.

“Data exchange” service offers individual users metadata transfer in several different formats. Citation formats are offered for transfers in texts as for the transfer into internet pages. Citation formats include permanent links that guarantee access to cited sources. For use are commonly structured metadata schemes : Dublin Core xml and ETUB-MS xml, local adaptation of international ETD-MS scheme intended for use in academic documents.
