Sažetak ; Abstract.
Abstract (en)
The study was conducted in order to determine the predictive value of motor abilities
and morphological and psychological characteristics in the competitors´ selection of
karate. The sample consisted of karate men (37 in fighting, 23 in kata and 19 who compete in
both disciplines, a total of 79) subjects aged 12 to 14 years. To assess the morphological
characteristics of the respondents 12 tests were applied, to cover the four-dimensional
space. Motor skills were assessed using the 15 tests of explosive strength, speed, coordination,
flexibility, and repetitive forces. To assess psychological characteristics, TEOSQ (The Task
and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire) - (TEOSQ) was applied. The system of criterion
variables in this study are specific motor skills in the performance of the standard school
karate techniques. The collected data were processed following mathematical and statistical
methods: descriptive statistical parameters, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, multivariate analysis
of variance (MANOVA), multivariate analysis of covariance (MANS), univariate analysis of
variance (ANOVA), t-test (t-test), confirmatory factor analysis and regression
analysis. Results of data analysis showed that there were differences between the groups in
morphological characteristics and motor abilities and specific motor skills (in which the
differences were most significant), while the expected differentiation compared to targeted
results was not confirmed. The results of regression analysis confirmed the hypothesis of a
significant association of specific motor abilities and morphological characteristics and motor
abilities of these groups of athletes. Based on the overall analysis of the results of this study
conclude that, to a large extent, confirmed the general hypothesis (hypothesis - HG), which
reads as follows: motor skills, morphological and psychological characteristics are significant
predictors of competitive selection in karate.

“Data exchange” service offers individual users metadata transfer in several different formats. Citation formats are offered for transfers in texts as for the transfer into internet pages. Citation formats include permanent links that guarantee access to cited sources. For use are commonly structured metadata schemes : Dublin Core xml and ETUB-MS xml, local adaptation of international ETD-MS scheme intended for use in academic documents.
